Michael Hill Bachelor Experience
The solution was obvious – get people to agree to marry a video projection.
The Challenge
Jeweler Michael Hill wanted to build awareness for their retail stores. The company had recently signed a deal with TV’s “The Bachelor Canada”, and wanted to build that partnership into whatever we came up with. The final product also had to take place inside the confines of several large North American shopping centres, and be exciting enough to capture the attention of shoppers in an extremely busy environment. Quite the ask.
Our Solution
The solution was obvious – get people to agree to marry a video projection. From ideation to technical direction on the live sets, Pixelpusher created a day any virtual bride would never forget. Pixelpusher produced footage of the bachelor, Tim Warmel. We created a virtual environment in which mall-goers found themselves on the business end of a proposal from the Bachelor Canada himself – in video form. This was handled using a Unity powered engine to sense the presence of each visitor, shooting live video, then compositing it with the pre-shot footage for projection on a life-sized video screen. The experience was deployed in Burlington and Vancouver, where scores of visitors said, “I do!”
