Toys R’ Us
We animated holiday snow and lights, and created animations to help bring the toys on the cover to life.
In today’s world of iPads, smart TVs and instant gratification, how do you capture the wonder and excitement of xmas in an old-school paper catalogue? (One that reaches an estimated 7 million households?) Toronto agency Open came to Pixelpusher looking for the answer. We sat down with the agency, client and catalogue and began unwrapping the options.
We started by enlisting artist Kira Shaimanova to create a series of real-world models that could be used to recreate the catalogue’s cover – a winter scene filled with gifts and toys. Next, we animated holiday snow and lights and created animations to help bring the toys on the cover to life. Finally, we packaged the rendered digital world into a downloadable app that could be opened and pointed at the catalogue to unleash the magic. Merry xmas tech fans.
